PARENTS,FAMILY AND FRIENDS OF LESBIANS AND GAYS has a chapter in the Tri-Cities area, made up of people from our own community. We're here because we love our children and want to help others deal with the emotional issues of being gay. We help by listening in confidence, sharing our experience, and providing a comfort zone. Our meetings are open to all; our membership includes gay and straight, families and singles, and anyone interested in equality and peace.

Our mission: SUPPORTING families and friends and helping them to understand those who are gay, EDUCATING society and working to dispel myths and misinformation about homosexuality; and ADVOCATING to end discrimination and secure equal rights for all persons, including those who are gay.

At the same time, PFLAG is a national organization. We work to help our national community at large to reach an understanding of those issues involved with minority expressions of sexuality. We work in Washington and Michigan toward preventing prejudice and misunderstanding from being written into our laws. Nationally we strive to enable everyone to accept others whose hopes for love and fulfillment seem to differ from those of the majority. We do not believe in reparative programs which claim to make gays straight. Instead we help people work through the difficult emotional task of accepting friends and children who are different.
